Welcoming the morning sun after hiking Sa’al steps

Arabian Fox

Sa’al steps hike is a great introduction to Omani mountains. Also, an opportunity to spot Arabian foxes, yes – I was very lucky to spot one – or test your cardiovascular fitness.

Sa’al steps or the Devils steps is a short, but both intense and rewarding hike to the summit of Jabel Khoneh – a hill on the outskirts of Muscat. You will get there driving on some ‘gravel’ roads that does not require a 4WD car – check out my video. The path is visible from the parking spot and easy to follow. My recommendation is to go there for the sunrise.

A couple of websites that cover the hike in more detail: 1) Omantripper, 2) Pulse of Oman
