The Gourmet Campers

My personal list of my favourite ten hikes in Muscat, Oman.

The place is very close to Muscat, yet is quite inaccessible.

The hike is very close from Sa’al Mountain. A short walk leads to a hole and a cave feature that is used for beginner abseilers.

As the region received plenty of rain few weeks before, the area was blooming with flowers and green – an unusual sight for Muscat.

Best views of Muscat. White Mountain.

A short hike and must visit for anyone visiting Muscat.

If you plan on visiting a very easily accessible Wadi Dayqah Dam and actually looking for something way more challenging, and don’t want to drive somewhere further, this is the place for you.

The hidden beauty of Fanja and Bidbid, Oman.

FIVE highlights of the area including: 1) Table Top Mountain, 2) Fanja old town and fort, 3) Wadi Fanja, 4) Bidbid fort, 5) Bidbid Nafaa View Point.

Great views of Muscat, but a steep and challenging (at times) trek.

Arabian Fox

Sa’al steps hike is a great introduction to Omani mountains. Also, an opportunity to spot Arabian foxes, yes – I was very lucky to spot one – or test your cardiovascular fitness.
