The Gourmet Campers

Our second trip to Salalah to visit few places that we missed during our 2019 Khareef trip.

Lots of wadis/canyons to explore north of Salalah. No descriptions, you are on your own…

About 30 mins away from Salalah there is a nice camping spot with few lookouts. Here is the location. It is possible to go all the way down and explore the wadi further.

Port of Salalah, Dhofar, Oman

Port of Salah is the largest port in Oman. The port operates both a container terminal and a general cargo terminal, and serves the local and regional community including humanitarian assistance to Yemen.

What a great destination for a day trip from Salalah? On the way to Shaat you can also stop at Fazayah beach and Mughsail. There are 3 highlights to enjoy here: the lookouts, hidden beach, and sinkhole.

Wadi Darbat Waterfall

Wadi Darbat is a beautiful scenic spot in Dhofar, Oman for all nature lovers worth visiting especially during the Khareef (monsoon) season.

Ayn Razat

Ayn Jarsis (or Ain Garziz) is a pleasant place for a picnic but don’t forget an insect repellent as both flies and mosquitoes will drive you nuts.

Mughsail beach - West side

In the coastal part of Dhofar, the weather changes to a constant drizzle that allows wadis to fill up, waterfalls to flow, and all the seasonal flora to go green. Check out the video from our landing approach to Salalah airport. An annual Khareef festival is organised in Salalah to celebrate the monsoon… Read More
